Estoc is better against normal enemies as you get critical bonus and you can play much more defensibly. Also if requires less weight. Balder Sword does more upfront damage/scales better, has great moveset and great reach for said moveset. In most cases, going 66 str and minimum dex with heavy infusion or 70 to 80 dex and minimum str with sharp infusion will heavily outdamage quality. E.g. Lothric Knight Sword has 413 AR on a quality build, 460 AR on a 13/80 dex build. Estoc is indeed best used on a dex build. 425 AR with 80 dex.

BurningLance 7 years ago #10. well if you go Quality then Refined is the best. since you plan to go Str for a while then Heavy is good. im doing a Dex/Luck and atm with 29 in both and Hollow infusion gives more dmg than the Sharp infusion (even if Sharp bumps dex scaling to B) which is very good for Estocs.I think rapier has higher dex scaling if I remember right, making it better for dex obviously. Id say Estoc simply because it has a better moveset IMO. Ricards R2 is cool, but you can only use it against some slowmoving enemies. A dex build is really lame until you reach the higher levels. I recommend a dex/int build. You'll end up a spellsword.
